Bespoke Hotels report ?500,000 in bookings after government amends travel laws

UK-based Bespoke Hotels, which has properties across the UK, has reported future bookings worth ?500,000, after the government amended its health and safety guidelines.

Several Bespoke properties are scheduled to reopen from July 4, such as La Suite West in Hyde Park, London, Coulsdon Manor in Surrey, Hotel Gotham in Manchester, The Lugger in Cornwall, Hunters Inn in Devon, Noel Arms in Cotswolds, Kings Head in Cirencester, Stonefield Castle in Loch Fyne and Tulloch Castle in Dingwall near Inverness, among others; and they had announced a promotion offer of 33% for short breaks, booked before the end of August, for the first three months after re-opening only last week.

If a booking falls through because of COVID-19-related issues, there are provisions for agents to rebook at the same rate within the next three months.

The ?500,000 figure equals the booking rates for 4,000 rooms per night, of which 2,075 rooms belong to Scottish properties. The majority of bookings made are for two people, and the average length of stay in England and Scotland is two nights, indicating a revival of the short break staycation market. For more on this, see the next issue of Travel Bulletin, which will be online on July 3.

Robin Sheppard, chairman of Bespoke Hotels said: ?We never planned to put our foot on the proverbial hosepipe, but since the permission to start trading again broke, the foot has well and truly come off; and sales have exploded. Lots of new bookings are making our phones ring again. I hope that it lasts.'

Several self-catering cottages and apartments which belong to Bespoke, such as Cobb Cottage at The Lugger in Cornwall, The Hunters Inn in Devon, apartments at The Kings Head Hotel in Cirencester and apartments by Oddfellows Chester, in Chester, are scheduled to reopen in August and September. All Bespoke properties have adopted enhanced health and safety protocols.
