Aegean Airlines reveals 2020 schedule

Greek carrier Aegean Airlines has published its 2020 schedule.

With a capacity increase to 19.2 million seats, 1.5 million additional seats compared to 2019, the airline will be operating in 155 destinations in 44 countries, with 65 aircraft, including the first 6 Airbus of A320 / 321neo family that are expected to join its fleet by the first half of the year.

Among those 155 destinations, the United Kingdom remains a focus country in the airline's activity as the Greek carrier proceeds with the enhancement of its offered capacity and reinstatement of one new route with two weekly flights connecting Birmingham with Athens. The airline will also increase its presence in Edinburgh by adding one more weekly frequency.

In 2020, the airline will be connecting four cities in the United Kingdom with popular Greek destinations and through Athens hub with all Greek islands (Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Kos, Corfu, etc). It will fly with scheduled flights from Birmingham, Edinburgh, London and Manchester to Athens with charter flights from and to even more UK and Greek destinations.  

In total for 2020 the airline adds 11 new routes to its international network flight schedule from the bases of Athens, Thessaloniki and Corfu. It is also adding three new destinations to its network directly to Birmingham, Paphos, Bilbao. Moreover, the company plans to increase capacity in another 47 international routes, adding 1.1 million seats to its annual activity and bringing the total capacity up to 11.4 million seats. At the same time, while aiming to expand the coverage of the key tourism markets, the airline is establishing a new base in Corfu, constituting its eighth base in Greece and Cyprus.

With 11 new routes, 1.5 million additional seats and 19.2 million seats in total, and of course with the addition of the first 6 A320neo family aircraft to our fleet, we create a new growth potential for our company. This year, along with the expansion of our Athens activity, the strengthening of Thessaloniki, and the new base in Corfu, we also enhance and boost our connections with Germany a market that has always been in the forefront of our strategic planning and overall market segment mix.?
