Acacia Africa champions solo travellers in 2019 Overland Tours

Acacia Africa is launching seven new tours for 2019, spanning the operator?s Short Safaris & Treks, City Breaks & Short Stays and Camping and Accommodated Overland collections.

Arno Delport, sales and marketing manager for the company, said: ?The phenomenal growth of solo travel is perhaps one of the most singularly important trends to affect our industry this year. Attractive to this market, in 2019 we will be offering four new overland itineraries, our camping options requiring no single supplement. Differentiating Acacia Africa from our competitors, we will also be making changes to all of our overland tours and small group safaris either starting or ending in Johannesburg, and replacing the city with Pretoria. Smaller and more pleasant to explore, we believe Pretoria will be a win-win with all clients, especially female solo travellers who see safety as a priority, many perhaps choosing to extend their stay with our new three-day Pretoria City Stay. The decision will also reduce travelling time in and out of the city by one hour - the change coming into effect in the New Year.?

Now the operator?s longest tour, the new 62-day South Africa to Kenya, covers nine countries; long-established overland destinations have been combined with lesser-known Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho and Malawi also visited on the adventure.

Millennials still make up a large portion of Acacia?s business, its overland tours targeted at travellers in the 18-39 year age range. The operator has developed more bite-size itineraries, and engaging trips ideal for time-sensitive travellers and those making second and third visits to Africa. The four-day Garden Route Express and 13-day Kruger Swazi and Drakensberg overland tours are scheduled to launch in January 2019.
