WTM news: Abu Dhabi is continuing its role as the culture-driven emirate

Abu Dhabi is unveiling a range of new cultural attractions for visitors to enjoy in the new year.

Amongst the newly opened cultural landmarks of the region is the Presidential Palace, a space that has been designed to help visitors learn more about the UAE. Included in the palace will be a range of books on the region, interactive cultural exhibitions, and manuscripts that highlight the Arab world’s contributions to fields such as science, arts and the humanities.

Additionally comes the World Heritage Site of the Qasr al-Hosn, or Old Fort. This is a structure that once served as a conical watch tower to defend the area's only freshwater well. Having been in Abu Dhabi for centuries, the fort was only recently opened to the public.

The region is also seeing a blend of old with the new, as the famed Yas Island will be opening the world’s tallest climbing wall, ‘Clymb’, on November 29. Yas Island will also see the rebranding of an existing hotel into the W Hotel, bringing along with it a cool and contemporary feel to the otherwise culturally driven emirate.

As part of work to further engage with agents, this year saw Abu Dhabi host a mega FAM trip, including 33 agents, and three roadshows including 178 attendees. Over 1000 agents have been trained on the region through presentations, events and one-to-one learning. The plan is to repeat the same agent engagement model for 2020.
