Staycation inspiration for close-to-home vacations

The staycation market is expected to be a post-pandemic winner ? and with that in mind, a survey has revealed the top British destinations which could be mistaken for other parts of the world

Faraway Furniture conducted a study of lesser-searched but spectacular parts of the UK which agents could use to inspire clients to book staycations, particularly if destinations abroad are difficult to access, under quarantine or expensive.

West Voe in the rugged Shetland Islands is reminiscent of the wild beaches of Finland. Other Scottish destinations which could prove popular for staycationers include Ben Nevis, with its Mont Blanc atmosphere, the Isle of Mull, which resembles Crane Beach in Barbados, Mealt Falls on the Isle of Skye which looks similar to Iceland?s Haifoss Waterfall, and Bidean nam Bian peaks, which offers climbs as challenging as some in the Himalayas.

Elsewhere, the Brecon Beacons Waterfall walk is as pretty as any in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Devon?s Cockington Village has a vibe similar to the French village of Veules-les-Roses, and the lavender fields of Norfolk are on par with those of France?s Provence region.

On a clear day, the Elegug Stacks in Pembrokeshire, Wales are the UK?equivalent of Nusa Penida in Bali, and High Force, the powerful 70-foot waterfall in County Durham offers a vista to rival Costa Rica?s Nauyaca Waterfalls.
